Since I have started reading again I figured that I would share what items that I use in order to properly review a book. I have been an avid ever since I was younger. I would say that the one series that has gotten me into reading is Harry Potter. Since then I have read so many more books (obviously!), but I have the worst time remembering the small details. When I try to explain what the book is about I don’t know where to begin or if I remember anything. Sometime in April I was watching some YouTube videos on how to remember some things that I just read and I came across some annotating videos. One of the videos that I started to watch was how to annotate books. The video was from Chloe ( Books With Chloe) and I fell in love. I did however make a few adjustments to her method.
The book that I’m currently reading is Middlegame by Seanan McGuire. Instead of using different colored tabs/pens I use sticky notes, a black pen and a 6 inch ruler. I have noticed that with these things that I pay more attention to the story than by all of the colors. When I come to a part of the story that I think that may be important to the rest of the book I underline the passage. If I want to highlight a longer passage I normally do a bracket and then I write my thoughts down on a sticky note.
Though out this novel, I have been able to keep track of what is going on and maintain all of the information to be able to share with someone who wants to know what this novel is about. I have noticed how big of a difference that this method has made. I would recommend that you guys find a method that works for you.
